Memorial Day!

Since this past Monday was Memorial Day, Corey had the day off work. I had a great day in mind - First, we'd go to the park or the zoo for some quality family time. Then we'd come home and relax (or even better, take a nap). That evening we'd sit out on the patio and grill out supper. Well, the weather didn't exactly cooperate. Instead of the zoo or the park, we played on a blanket in the family room. It was still fun, but not exactly what I had in mind! :)

We do have a great covered patio, complete with a swing for Aubrey Claire, so that part of my plan did work out! She loves swinging in her pink swing!! (Sorry for the blurry pic - it was hard to catch her adorable smile mid-swing!)

Buck Creek Festival

Not long ago, Corey and I took Aubrey Claire to the Buck Creek Festival in Helena. It was a "free event" (Even though there wasn't a price for admission, we still dropped some moolah on some super-cute things for Aubrey Claire) that featured good music, yummy food, and tons of booths with various odds & ends. The highlight of the festival, in my opinion, is the duck race. Unfortunately we didn't make it around to the duck booth in time to buy a duck, so we didn't have a duck in the race...but it was still fun to watch!

Meme & Poppy

Two weekends ago my Meme and Poppy (my grandparents, Aubrey Claire's great-grandparents) drove down from West Virginia for a visit. It turns out that the weekend they were here, I had a dentist appointment on Friday and two baby showers on Saturday. So much of their trip was spent babysitting for Aubrey Claire. Something tells me they didn't mind too much!

StadiumFest

A couple of weeks ago Aubrey Claire and I met JH, Paige, Clay and his 3 kids at StadiumFest. StadiumFest was a huge family event that featured a great play area for the little ones, a handful of different inspirational speakers, and some great Christian music! BibleMan and the Veggie Tales were there. There were blow-up jumpy things and a huge slide to go down. Best of all...the event was totally free! It was incredibly hot, so ACK and I only lasted a couple of hours, but we had a great time while we were there!

Happy Mother's Day

I have a ton of pics and events to post, but I'm going to start with Mother's Day. My first Mother's Day was AWESOME! We started the day by having Aubrey Claire dedicated at our church. It was such a sweet service and a somber reminder of what a huge responsibility being a parent truly is...God has entrusted us with a precious little girl...we are charged with the responsibility of raising her to know and love Jesus, to teach her right from wrong, to prepare her for the world in front of her...seriously, if you think about it too much, you can really get overwhelmed! That's why I'm so grateful to have a wonderful family, group of friends, and new church home - that way when Corey or I mess up (and I'm sure we will...in fact, we probably already have!!) there are Godly influences in Aubrey Claire's life to pick up the slack. After church, everyone came back to our house for a little cookout to celebrate the day. It was so nice to get everyone together to eat and just hang out for a while! Once lunch was over, we gave the grandmamas a little present from Aubrey Claire - we had gone to a local paint-your-own-pottery shop and made little plates with Aubrey Claire's footprints. They turned out so cute, we'll definitely do it again! Once all of our guests had gone home, Corey, Aubrey Claire, and I laid down and took a long nap. What a great way to spend my first Mother's Day!
